The Freedom Trail
District Adult Court of Honor is May 11, 2005. This is a time for the adult
leaders in the Pack, Troop, Crews and District to get together to recognize and
honor our leaders for the service given to the youth in Freedom Trail District.
There are many recognitions that evening including presentations of awards
leaders earned such as Veteran Awards and Training Knots and others for which
the recipient is nominated including the District Award of Merit, Family of the
Year and Couldn't Have Done it Without You.
The
District Award of Merit is presented to Scouters in our District who give
outstanding service. Nomination deadline is January 15, 2005. Nominations are
submitted to the District Advancement Committee which Leslie Hague Chairs.
The District Scouting
Family of the Year Award, presented by the Freedom Trail District, is
available to any Scouting Family who renders service of an outstanding nature to
a Cub Scout or Boy Scout unit and its youth members. All members of the family
must be registered in Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturing or Girl Scouts.
Nomination deadline is January 15 2005. Nominations are submitted to the
District Advancement Committee which Leslie Hague Chairs.
Every
troop, pack or crew has at least one adult in their organization who has made it
possible for some part of their program to happen. These people deserve
recognition. The most public recognition we have for them is the Couldn't
Have Done it Without You award. The District is happy to recognize anyone
the unit feels has earned the award with a certificate and our thanks. The one
thing we request is nomination before April 1, 2005 and a brief explanation
"no more than two short paragraphs" to include in the citation.
Nominations are submitted to the District Advancement Committee which Leslie
Hague Chairs.

This
is also a wonderful time
to review the service of your leaders and recognize them with their knots. Most
of these awards require one to two years of Tenure, attending training for the
position and other activities these leaders are already doing. The recognition
knots are for Tiger Den Leader Award, Den Leader Award, Webelos Den Leader
Award, Cub Scouter Award, Cubmaster Award, Boy Scout Leader Training Award,
Scoutmaster's Key, etc. You can see a full list of these awards and the
requirements at http://www.scouting.org/forms/
starting with "Progress toward Tiger Den Leader Award". Applications
for these training awards are submitted to Terri Washburn, District Training
Chair. Applications may be submitted at any time of the year but should be
submitted by April 1st to be presented at the Adult Court of Honor.
Veteran
Awards are presented to registered leaders beginning at their 5th year of
service and every 5 years after that. Applications for the Veterans Award are
submitted to the DelMarVa Council Service Center. Applications may be submitted
at any time but should be submitted by April 1st to be presented at the Adult
Court of Honor.
